| Tam al'Thor |
Harrison Ford - 28.3%
Sean Connery - 7.6%
Pierce Brosnan - 7.6%
All three of these actors are men of action, Han Solo/Indiana Jones and two James Bonds, although I don't think Ford is used to not being the headlining star, so I doubt he'd want the role. Brosnan is a very tempting choice, but...

George Clooney
I like George Clooney a lot. He was great in 'Out of Sight' and 'Three Kings', and he reminds me of a less-refined Cary Grant. He carries himself with a casual self-confidence that speaks of tough times and bitter experiences, and he would bring a lot of depth to Tam al'Thor. |

| Abell Cauthon |
Richard Dreyfuss - 26.1%
Pierce Brosnan - 8.7%
Dennis Franz - 8.7%
It's hard to think of Dreyfuss as anything but a incorrigible prankster, a kid's heart in a grown-up body, and this is why it's easy for people to stick with the previous cast list's pick in this role. Franz, though... "Ipso this, you pissy Trolloc!" |
Bruce Willis
Sure, he's got that permanent smirk on his face, and we're still not sure whether he can act or he's just playing himself, but like Clooney, Willis is a guy I enjoy seeing on the screen. He's a good guy, loyal to his friends, and people tend to underestimate him. He'd have a great time with Clooney. |
 |
| Bran al'Vere |
Brian Dennehy - 40.0%
Ed Asner - 8.0%
Michael Caine - 8.0%
Ed Asner would actually be pretty funny in the role, whether he meant to be or not. I already have Dennehy for another role, and while Michael Caine might be in every other movie released in the last 20 years, that doesn't mean he's right for this role. |
Rip Torn
Most of you may not know who Rip Torn is, but he was a comic lightning rod on the HBO series 'Larry Sanders Show' as Artie, the show's producer. He could mix laughter and pathos without making it seem contrived, and when he got ferocious, stand back. |
 |
| Marin al'Vere |
Meryl Streep - 12.5%
Sally Field - 12.5%
Bette Midler - 12.5% (tie)
If Meryl Streep is so good at doing all these different accents, does she still remember what her normal accent is? Okay, I just have to say, the person that voted for Kirsten Dunst is an idiot. Marin is Egwene's mother. That would require her to be at least a decade and a half older than Egwene! Dunst is 18 years old! |
Meryl Streep
I guess I should find room for the greatest actress of her generation. Well, I don't mean to make it sound like this is a disappointing development; I just couldn't find anyone obvious to fit this bill. No doubt I will the day after I post this, though. :) |
 |
| Cenn Buie |
Ian Holm - 30.4%
Jack Lemmon - 8.7%
Bob Hoskins - 8.7%
Ian Holm, soon to be Bilbo Baggins in 'Lord of the Rings', was the victor here, a carry-over from the previous cast list. This would have also been a good role for Grampa Simpson - damn, I almost wish I hadn't used him on Herid Fel.
|
Ian Holm
Holm is still a good pick, and I have a lot of respect for his acting abilities. His work in 'The Sweet Hereafter' deserved an Oscar nomination, and while playing an irascible old coot isn't a tough assignment, it can't hurt to cast the best actor available. |
 |
| Daise Congar |
Camryn Manheim - 26.1%
Kathy Bates - 17.4%
Rosie O'Donnell - 13.0%
Now, if the idea here is that Daise Congar will harass you and annoy you and generally drive you nuts just by her existence, then Rosie O'Donnell makes sense. |
Hillary Clinton
Okay, she's not an actor, but she pretends to be a New York resident, so that should count for something. And besides, if she was coming after you with a switch, wouldn't you start running? |
